Sangita Iyer is a National Geographic Explorer, multiple award-winning nature & wildlife filmmaker, a broadcast journalist, biologist and the Founder of Voice for Asian Elephants Society. Her globally acclaimed film Gods in Shackles which was nominated at the United Nations General Assembly, and won more than a dozen international film festival awards, sheds light on the plight of so-called “festival elephants” of Kerala who are exploited for profit behind the insidious veil of culture and religion.
Paul Lewis
Editorial Supervisor, Asian Elephant 101 series
Paul Lewis is the Conference Director of the World Congress of Science and Factual Producers (WCSFP). As a former television and production executive at Discovery, Canadian Broadcasting Corporation and Great Pacific Media, he has more than three decades of experience in factual international programming. He’s also the consultant-in-chief for the Guangzhou International Documentary Festival.
Dr. Raman Sukumar
Scientific Advisor, Asian Elephants 101 series
Dr. Raman Sukumar obtained his PhD from the prestigious Indian Institute of Science in 1985 for his pioneering research on the ecology of interactions between Asian elephants and people. While he continues to work on elephant conservation, he has expanded his research to tropical forest ecology and climate change. His primary conservation interests lie in promoting sustainable landscapes for elephants and biodiversity.
Hari Das
Video Editor and Graphic Designer, Asian Elephants 101 series
Having worked at the fast-paced News-18, a CNN affiliate in India, and other news outlets in Kerala, Hari Das’s talents and skills were an asset. Hari Das is a freelance video editor and has been working for several popular media outlets such as Reliance Entertainment, Flowers TV and Asianet Cable TV.
Janal Bechthold
Co-composer, Asian Elephants 101 series
Janal Bechthold loves telling stories with music! As a composer specializing in film, television, and interactive media she has scored numerous productions including Daytime Emmy award-winning Ghostwriter: The Jungle Ghost 1 & 2, documentary Pandora’s Box, videogame Terrorarium, and interactive graphic novels, Dystopia 2153 and 80 Degrees North. Janal’s music has also been nominated for the Canadian Screen Award. As someone with a passion for the environment, her previous collaboration with director Sangita Iyer on Gods in Shackles, which screened at both the United Nations General Assembly and the Supreme Court of India, has been a career highlight.
Donald Quan
Co-composer, Asian Elephants 101 series
Donald Quan is an accomplished Film and Television Composer known for his work in television series including the themes and scores for Relic Hunter, Star Hunter (REDUX) and has recently scored a spate of Christmas movies with one of his composing partners Jim Gelcer. He has dozens of albums to his credit and has been nominated for several Gemini Awards and is a 3-time winner of the coveted SOCAN Award for performance royalties. Donald also collaborated with director Sangita Iyer on the multi award winning, and United Nations nominated film Gods in Shackles.

Tom Mullins is a highly regarded and prolific audio professional. Owner of www.tommullins.work, Tom leads a small, skilled team of audio engineers for big results. Tom has hundreds of credits for mixing, sound design and music production, which includes films (Peete, Gods In Shackles, Ciao Plastique), TV shows (Texas Metal, Balade, Tournée Générale), video games (The Vale, Weirdwood Manor Vol. 2, Smash Ball), and musical releases (DSTLL, Prrom).
